First Annual 5K Walk/Run
This year's Future Problem Solving Team's project was titled, Get Moving - "The more you move, the more you groove into a better life." This is the first time Forest Lake Area Schools have had a team compete in this area of FPS competition. They took the 6 step FPS process and applied it to their own community and focused on our school. The students went on our morning news program two days a week and gave the students a fitness goal each week as well as a healthy eating goal. The team interviewed various staff to see how they could improve our school community in overall fitness. They also planned activities for our extended day students with extra exercise before and after their extended day classes.
The team competed at various Regional Competions throughout the month of February and qualified to compete at the State FPS Bowl in March. Our team did a great job, taking first place in their category! Congratulations to our State Champions and their coach, Mrs. Sauer!
Our school hosted its First Annual 5K Walk/Run event on Saturday, May 5th to help raise funds for some new playground equipment. It was a great neighborhood event that was well attended by our families and community. The morning was filled with fun, friends, and many smiles! Thank you to all of the volunteers, sponsors and participants for helping to make the event a wonderful success!
